Credit metering is the use of an electricity meter to record kWh used (usually monthly) and then bill the customer according to an agreed tariff per kWh. Credit Metering can be used by property managers to record electricity used by tenants. This is exactly the same as the way the majority of householders have their meters read each month and are billed for the power they use. This method of billing has the merit of being inexpensive (whether or not additional meters are installed for each dwelling being managed), but it is open to many forms of abuse, both on the part of the owner and tenant. The meters we can recommend are accurate, tamper-proof and inexpensive. A better solution for larger complexes might be to use one of our automatic meter reading (AMR) solutions,or to opt for pre-paid metering.
