Sunday, 04 July 2010: Following three days of negotiation under the auspices of the Commission for Conciliation, Mediation and Arbitration (CCMA), Eskom has revised its wage offer and housing benefit to all employees in the bargaining unit and is confident that the offer will be accepted by the trade unions. The final settlement proposal by Eskom for consideration by the unions is as follows: 1. A 9% salary increase across the board for all employees in the bargaining unit. 2. A minimum housing benefit of R1 500 applied to employees in the bargaining. Employees not receiving any subsidy at present will receive the minimum housing benefit of R1 500 per month. Employees currently receiving a subsidy on a loan, or rental or a personal housing loan, of less than R1 500 per month, will receive a top-up housing benefit to R1 500 per month. Employees receiving a subsidy in excess of R1 500 per month will retain their current subsidy and will receive no additional payments. -Eskom media release |
